Sian on Tour

A rainy monday night on Skye turned out to be memorable with late plans with my friend to see Sian at LAS, Isle of Skye Candles. Sian comprises three of today’s most exquisitely gifted young Gaelic singers - Ceitlin Lilidh, Eilidh Cormack and Ellen MacDonald – accompanied by in-demand multi-instrumentalist Innes White. With direct connections among the singers to Lewis, Skye and North Uist, their arrangements match deep feeling for traditon with stunning, boldly imaginative harmony work, which has seen them likened to The Staves and even Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young. Their self-titled debut album, produced by Donald Shaw, was released in 2020. The harmonies were mesmerising and evoked emotions from the beautiful Gaelic culture. Focusing on songs promoting historic powerful women, with interludes of humorous storytelling, it was a night to remember. I finished my evening with a Raasay Whisky night cap thinking of the beautiful Gaelic culture of the west coast and the powerful historic women who have shaped it. Since it's the closest brewery to us, I thought it would be rude not to pop into The Cuillin Brewery located at The Sligachan Hotel. Nestled at the foot of he Cuillin mountain range, some interesting beers are being produced.

Belgium Comes to Breakish

Our love affair with Belgium is strong here at The Misty Bottle. All of us have visited the country and all agree that we were especially enthused with their passion for beer.   Until recently, us Scots weren't exactly blessed with amazing breweries. As a nation our focus was on...

Dookit Brewing Co - Glasgow

Here we are again, another week another brewery. It's a hard life eh! This week I caught up with Harry, the founder of Dookit Brewery in Glasgow. I was recommended his beer by a few of my Instagram buddies. And I'm so glad I listened to them! Like most people...

Dog Falls Brewery

Here at The Misty Bottle we have always strived to stock local produce as much as possible, so when we heard about Dog Falls, from Scaniport near Inverness, we knew we had to get involved.

Bad na h-Achlaise Highland Single Malt

“This premium single malt Scotch whisky beautifully marries the wonder of peated and unpeated spirit, to produce a characterful and finely balanced expression of the rugged and yet romantic north west Highlands.”   We have been looking forward to this one for a while now. After hearing that the latest...

The Scalasaig 'Island Hopper' Maiden Voyage

With only 3000 bottles of the 'Maiden Voyage' out there, this is definitely one not to be missed.   The Scalasaig 'Island Hopper' from Colonsay is named after the Hebridean port village where the owners live. The whisky character truly evokes the spirit of the islands.  Featuring peated whiskies from...

Gaelic Gin Cocktails

We have always been impressed with the lovely gin produced by the good folks down at Eilean Iarmain. Their spiced gin, in our opinion, really is special. See below for a couple of cocktail ideas from Leah, the head distiller of Uisge Lusach gin. We have been hard at...

FOUR MORE BEERS

It is always an exciting day when we are changing all 4 kegs at the same time! We have two new beers from Overtone Brewing in Glasgow, one 8.8% Double IPA from the masters over at Cromarty Brewing Co and a crisp Scottish Lager from Brew Toon over in...
