Until the 1800's, Scotland persisted with the use of native herbs rather than hops in its brewing. The malty-sweet profile of this beer is joined by a hint of eucalyptus and cedar, derived from one such native herb, lost in brewing history: Myrica Gale, also known as bog myrtle.
