Talisker 14 Year Old "Molten Seas" (part of the 2025 Diageo Special Releases) is a highly unique, cask-strength single malt from the Isle of Skye. Its defining feature is its highly experimental maturation: the whisky is finished in virgin American oak casks that were toasted using super-heated volcanic basalt rocks sourced directly from Skye.

Instead of a traditional flame, the American oak casks were toasted using red-hot volcanic basalt rocks, creating an incredibly intense char. This process imparts a profoundly mineral, spicy, and deeply charred oak influence.

It is bottled at a punchy natural cask strength of 53.9% ABV, allowing the intense maritime and peppery flavours to shine through without dilution.

Tasting Notes

Nose: A briny, mineral breeze with notes of vanilla, barbecued pineapple, and maritime smoke.

Palate: Creamy and sweet at first, swiftly developing Talisker's signature fiery, peppery punch alongside sea salt, charred oak, and subtle orchard fruit.

Finish: Long and warming, leaving a drying kick of pink pepper and a lingering, faint trace of peat
