Haroosh Brambleberry Liqueur

£30.00

Haroosh - An excited, high spirited, disorderly gathering, a tumult, an uproar, a broil, a “set-to”
Haroosh originates from the North East of Scotland and has been made by the family for over 100 years. Brambleberries would be foraged every autumn then left to infuse with local honey and whisky, slowly transforming into Haroosh. Haroosh has been enjoyed by family and friends for many generations.
The first small batch released for sale was produced in 2016. They can't give away all their secrets but they use a blend of Scottish whiskies to create a crisp, light and malty base for Haroosh. The brambleberries are foraged from the Royal Deeside area and sourced from berry farms in Angus, just over the Grampian Mountains. They use a mixture of heather, clover and willow herb Deeside honey, all sourced from a local master bee keeper. The bees collect nectar from various locations in and around the Dee valley which helps give Haroosh a unique natural sweetness.
The production methods are the same as they were 100 years ago and only produce a limited number of bottles every year. For them (and us!) every bottle of Haroosh is special. From infusion to labelling each bottle is hand crafted and uniquely sealed with bees wax.
Each bottle of Haroosh contains at least 50 brambleberries and their bees have to travel 4500 miles to collect enough honey for every bottle.

  Est. - January 2017
  Location - Aboyne, Deeside
  Owner - Lost Loch Distillery
Known Botanicals - Angus and Dundee 3 year old blend. Deeside Honey and Bramble berries from Angus.
Serving Suggestions - Haroosh is great neat over ice. It is a fantastic replacement for port and goes great with chocolate desserts or cheese.
Haroosh is a fanciful cocktail ingredient. Use as a substitute for honey syrup in drinks like a bees knees or penicillin. Also a great substitute for berry cordial to top up G&T's, sparkling wines, Prosecco or cider.
  Tasting Notes -
Nose - floral honey and bright red fruits
Taste - sweet with a balanced acidity. The whisky and bramble flavours come quickly with a slight tannic bitterness but give way to a dry honey quality that lingers in the mouth.
